Day 9.
Thank you to all those who joined us yesterday in the celebration of the opening Eucharist of our General Chapter. It was presided over by Kerman Lopez, Vicar General of the Diocese of Bilbao and in his homily he told us:
“How many people think that this world is hopeless and look to the future with fear! Among you, family of Jesus, it is not to be so ……
… By listening to Jesus and putting his will into action, the Church was born. Thus the Order of Mercy was born. This was how the Mercedarian Missionary Sisters of Bérriz was born. In this Eucharist, which opens your seventeenth General Chapter, ask for the Spirit of the Risen Lord. Put yourselves in the hands of the Potter (Jer 18). He dreams of a future in which humanity, today divided and confrontational, will be a family united around him. From your weakness, his grace is sufficient for you (2 Cor 12). Trust in the Lord to launch you where He wants you to contribute to that future dreamed by God….
…. May the Virgin Mary, in her invocation of Mercy, free you from all fear and may the resurrection of her Son help you to look with hope and responsibility to the future that you have come to project.”
