1884-1934
Foundress of the Mercedarian Missionary Sisters of Berriz
“The living fire of the missionary spirit soon filled the entire house, school and convent. The ground was fertile and the will to be missionaries was born, to transform the Monastery of Bérriz into a Missionary Institute.”
On September 19, 1926 , with the approval of Pope Pius XI, the Berriz mission began, culminating in the opening of four mission centers:
Wuhu (China)
Saipan (Mariana Islands)
Ponapé (Pohnpei, Caroline Islands)
Tokyo (Japan)
The Mercedarian Missionary Sisters of Bérriz are an international community of women united by two passions: Jesus and the mission, and from them everything else.
From the five continents, we are united by our attraction to Jesus of Nazareth, having found in him a horizon of full life that liberates and humanizes.
