We, the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz in the Philippines, are present in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, dedicated to formal and non-formal education, community building, interreligious dialogue, facilitating retreats and other pastoral ministries.

We are committed to caring for our Common Home primarily through the CARES (Community Awareness to Restore Earth System) ecological awareness project.

In the current global and local context, we are invited to contemplate our reality with new eyes and hearts. Our Earth, our common home, has been devastated by both natural and human-caused calamities.

Our world is in crisis, marked by divisions within and between nations, where government leaders are often more concerned with their own interests than with the common good.

In the Philippines, corruption persists, with political and economic power largely concentrated in the hands of an oligarchy.

Amidst these realities, we, the Mission of the Philippines, together with the whole institute, are invited to continue our journey and allow ourselves to be touched by reality, especially the cry of our common home and the cry of the poor. As we live our Mercedarian Spirituality, we continue to open ourselves to the God of Jesus, allowing God to reshape us anew so that we can rediscover and share “this treasure in earthen vessels’ (2Cor 4:7) in our world today.
