The Mercedarian Missionary Sisters of Berriz are present in Peru and Ecuador, forming four communities.
We accompany the lives of communities and people in their processes of liberation and development.
Lima
We support children aged 2 to 5 from vulnerable families, offering them a warm space where they learn to read, play, draw, paint, etc., receive nutritious food, and acquire habits that promote their development.
We conduct family visits to identify needs, we work on the comprehensive training of the family and we achieve good results in the well-being and performance of the children.
We also support other children: With a school support program, where they learn routines, coexistence and learning in a safe and affectionate environment.
A community dining hall that helps people have a balanced diet without taking them away from their environment.
Sewing and knitting workshops for women are a space that allows them to meet and strengthen the community spirit through sharing.
Chaclacayo
The retreat community in Chaclacayo is a space of silence, prayer, and gratitude. These sisters have dedicated their lives to the mission and the proclamation of Jesus the liberator in various places, sowing the Word of God, comfort, and joy. Today, looking back, they gather this rich experience to give thanks to God for what they have lived and for the fruits that have sprung from their dedication.
Although the years have changed the rhythm of their day, their heart still beats for the mission and for the people: within their possibilities they accompany a nearby marginalized neighborhood, maintaining contact, offering companionship and sharing what they can: an attentive listen, a word of solidarity, simple gestures of love, closeness and affection.
Chimbote
At Unión del Sur we support a community in formation with catechesis for children at all levels, school reinforcement, craft workshops for children and women, home visits and care for people with health problems.
At Fe y Alegría School No. 14, we provide support from the outset, ensuring its operation and the experience of the Fe y Alegría spirituality.
Uhzcurrumi (Ecuador)
We accompany the basic ecclesial communities, as a priority accompaniment of the Diocese of Machala.
Each year we carry out a mission, MMB Lay people from different places participate, we visit families to learn about their reality and, together, look for solutions to their needs, we reflect on the Word of God, to apply it in life.
Through catechesis, we promote family gardens to improve their nutrition, medicinal gardens, and recycling initiatives, all in accordance with caring for Mother Earth.
In addition, we support low-income children and adolescents to complete their primary education and continue building their future.
